We Need You to Donate Today So We Can Make the Second Site of Sheltering Tree a Reality.
We, the volunteers on the Sheltering Tree Board of Directors, would like to update you on the next low income housing project for Sheltering Tree to be located at 72nd and Ames Circle on the land near Marian High School.
This $4.4 million project has been funded for start of construction this fall, more than likely October, with opening date of fall 2016. It will have 22 units of residential apartments and two live in manager units. The apartments are 650 sq. ft. with a kitchen, bath, bedroom and living room, dining area. There is a large common area for activities and kitchen. We have hired a chef at Bellevue for evening meals and it is working wonderfully.
We have just been told by investors that we need $100,000 from Sheltering Tree by late May to cover the projected expenses up to the time of construction start which is when the grants will take over payment of the project expenses. This Sheltering Tree share amount will cover the architectural plans and specs, engineering and environmental clearance needed to bid out the project in late summer.
A very generous donor has come forward to offer a $50,000 match, dollar for dollar, for all we can raise. We are appealing to you, your friends and family to help us raise this money. Please share this need with as many people as possible. If we do not raise the $50,000, we stand the chance of losing significant grant support and the project may possibly not be built. People can go on line to our web site at ShelteringTreeCommunity.org to donate.
For the Bellevue project, we needed to raise $240,000 and thankfully were able to do that. However, this is very short notice. We need your help as soon as possible to meet the financial goals to continue the new project. Please consider sending in a donation today to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to have your donation matched, up to $50,000. 1323 William St., Omaha, NE 68108.
Thank you for your consideration and please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like further details. Sheltering Tree is a 501c3 charitable organization and your donation will be tax deductible. We continue to pray that ancient simple prayer, “God do good to those who do good.” God Bless.
President, Board of Directors
